Chris Tomlin Indescribable Tab and Lyrics

amazonIndescribable Tab and Lyrics by Chris Tomlin from the Album Arriving. Ok so there has been a lot of people trying to figure this song out online.. Now when it comes to hearing it live vs on the CD there might be some variation in where Chris puts his capo. i.e he might have it on the 2nd fret.. but if you listen to the song and the words on the album, its definately being played with the capo on the 4th fret. Now apparently when he did the Live from Austin Music Hall session he had it on the 3rd fret.  I’ve put the words and chords together plus listed the tablature for the chord shapes so you can play them.  If you do play it on the 4th fret or without a capo be ready to really belt it out and sing from your stomach.. as this is one song that really can be a struggle for some people to sing. Goes to show that Chris really has developed some strong vocals .  I have put the electric guitar parts at the bottom.

G - 320033
D - 000232
Em - 022000
C - 030033
Am - 002210
F -  133211
Bb - 113331
Bb/G# - 403330   ( when you do this its going to be odd. as your changing from Bb to Bb with G# note the best way I find to do it is to have my third ring finger across the 3 frets and use my thumb hooked over for the G# … it does the job and works well. Be sure to capo it as shown.

Hey this tab is great, but the D during the chorus above You are amazing God..it does not mix with what Chris is playing. I really really believe he is playing a G/B. D doesnt match at all

Yeah.. i hear what your saying.. its true you could either go to the D or from the EM do te G/B then to C

    G/B - 020033

either way.. will do the trick.. cheers mikey!

    I play a Bm7 of sorts

    Bm7 X20232

It could also be a D6

    D6 XX0202

There’s also a D/F# on “depths” and an Am7/G at the start of “Majesty” in the first verse and in all the same places in the other verses.

Good to find some correct chords finally!

    Thanks

“Hey this tab is great, but the D during the chorus above You are amazing God..it does not mix with what Chris is playing.”

We are trying to learn this song for special music during service, so we got a hold of the sheet music as Laura wrote it. The D is correct.

Funny the sheet music doesn’t mention capo; I had to “figure” that one out for myself. ;-)

Yeah, the trick to playing Tomlin is to play it as if there were a capo when, in actuality, you are not using one. This is because, no offence to Chris Tomlin but, he sings like a girl.
